Alfa Romeo Stelvio
Quadrifoglio
A little while ago, I had some time with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
The Stelvio Quadrifoglio is Alfa Romeo’s SUV that wants to be a supercar. Its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 gave me 510 bhp and
600 Nm. That meant I could accelerate from 0–62 mph in 3.8 seconds and then carry on all the way up to 176 mph. Power
goes to all four wheels via an eight-speed auto gearbox, making the whole thing a very fun and practical SUV.
It has adaptive suspension, torque vectoring and a surprisingly light 1.9-tonne kerb weight. This is mostly due to its
aluminium body panels and a carbon-fibre propshaft. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio also has Brembo brakes and sounds pretty
good too.
Inside, you get sports seats, carbon trim, Alcantara touches and Alfa’s signature red starter button (always cool). The 8.8inch touchscreen handles infotainment, and there’s a decent amount of space for passengers and luggage.
I had a lot of fun driving the Stelvio Quadrifoglio. I was most surprised at its speed and agility, considering it's an SUV.
It might not be as exciting as other cars out there, or as capable of doing actual SUV things, but nonetheless, I quite liked it.
