MOVING ON
Over the years, the Mini stayed local and remained in the same family. It was well cared for and only driven on rare
occasions, averaging around 200 miles a year.
Now, with just over 5,500 miles on the clock, this very original Mini made its way to Suffolk and into the Bridge Classic
Cars workshop.
Since being in the workshop, this Mini has been undergoing some work so it was completely ready for its next
adventure. One of our technicians, Jonn, has been carefully bringing it back to its former glory. I found it really
interesting talking to Jonn about the car. He said that this is the closest he will ever come to driving a brand new Mini
1000 from 1977.
I’m not sure why but I felt that his comments summed up the appeal of this very special car.
Complete with a substantial collection of paperwork for its very interesting history, including MOTs, service records,
and the original telegram congratulating Margaret on winning the competition.
The documentation even includes a letter from the organisers explaining how Margaret had also won a Raleigh
Chopper in the same competition.
However, she declined the bike so someone else could have a chance at winning.
THE STORY CONTINUES
After being won in one of our recent competitions, the new owner has decided to sell this nostalgia-filled classic. That
means that someone else is soon going to own this stunning piece of history.
This Leyland Mini has been described as the closest thing to a brand new 1977 Mini 1000 that you’ll probably ever find.
It’s extremely original and, apart from having some paint repairs completed, it’s as if it has just rolled off the
production line and into someone's garage.
Whoever ends up as the new owner of our Leyland Mini will be a very lucky person.
