There are certain cars that generate a huge amount of nostalgia,
passion and emotion. Perhaps, one of the most iconic and most
emotion-inducing vehicles for petrolheads of a certain age is the
Ford Escort MK1.
The Escort played a big role in the motorsport and rallying world,
and for many people, it was the first car they ever fell in love with.

So, when Boreham Motorworks (part of DRVN Automotive) announced they were bringing it back, officially, with Ford’s
blessing, there was a mix of excitement and curiosity. How do you reimagine an actual automotive legend without losing what
made it special in the first place?
That’s where DRVN’s Design Director, Wayne Burgess comes in. With a multi-decade design career involving work at some of
the biggest names in the industry such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, and Lotus. Now, at DRVN Automotive, he’s leading a
team that’s bringing some extremely special cars back, not as restorations but as brand-new cars.
And for Wayne, the Mk1 Escort RS isn’t just another project; it’s personal.
